Control of spending

The administration of the Salvatorian Relief Action strictly supervises the spending of the funds. To this end, they use strict standards relating to the allocation of the money within the organisation.

We only support small-scale, well-defined projects:
- the projects must structurally improve the living conditions of the population in developing countries, for example by the organising of courses in the field of hygiene, literacy, the drilling of wells, and the starting up of small companies which will in due course be self-supporting;
- not a single person, but a group or community must benefit from the improvement of the local living conditions;
- the chances of success (e.g. because the socio-political situation of the country or the region is quite stable);
- no financial dependence may be created;
- the meeting of a real financial need;
- the project must be easy to monitor.

N.B.: Applications from India, Uganda and Rwanda must always be accompanied by a favourable report from Caritas. This organisation is aware of the local situation and also supervises the correct allocation of the funds.

Strict procedures also apply for the verification of the accounts. The accounting is externally monitored by chartered accountant Van de Ven and company auditor Callens, Pirenne & Co.
